the cut
On the small island of Plérouëtte, the proposed bridge to connect the island to the mainland is dividing its inhabitants. A criminal power outage lasting several weeks will reshuffle the dice and forever change the fate of the islanders, especially that of Gaspard Le Cloac'h, a cynical and world-weary restaurant owner.
AN ELECTRIC COMEDY

In the era of alter-globalization and digital detox, this film takes on its full meaning, illustrating the parenthesis in which a population deprived of technology will eventually find its bearings by returning to what is essential.
The radical and growing transformation that the inhabitants undergo from the very beginning of the break generates a genuine comic dynamic throughout the story. The island, moving from collective apathy to collective hysteria, denounces in a satirical tone our alienation to comfort and security, our attachment to the "great whole".

GASPARD, ALONE IN THE WORLD
As a teenager, Gaspard Le Cloac'h wanted to change the world, but his parents' accident put an end to his dearest dreams.
30 years later, a confirmed bachelor and reluctant restaurateur, Gaspard has become a cynical and pessimistic man who revels in this life whose sole purpose is to do his best to ensure that nothing happens to him.
The worst restaurateur on the island, he orders his supplies from all corners of the world, seeing cooperation with the last fishermen and farmers of the island as just another constraint.
But the power outage will prove fatal. Forced to source his supplies on the island to save his business from bankruptcy, Gaspard will reconnect with his fellow humans, regain control of his life, and rediscover the warrior within.
HOT-COLD
Vibrant and imbued with emotion, The Cut is a vivid and visually striking film. During the blackout, only the moon and the island's great lighthouse continue to illuminate the nights of Plërouette. The blue treatment of the "day for night," contrasting with the orange glow of oil lamps and candles, lends a mystical and dreamlike atmosphere to the nights of Plërouette.
