kush

A cannabis seed of unknown genetics mysteriously lands in a pharmaceutical laboratory.

Mathis, a visionary biologist, will take Katia, a cannabis farmer living day to day in illegality, into the dangerous Hindu Kush mountains in search of a seed whose properties could save thousands of lives. - And why not save them themselves?

Mathis and Katia are complete opposites, yet their shared passion for cannabis will bring them together , and their unlikely encounter will change them forever. The constant betrayal that hangs over the pair contrasts sharply with the tender "father-daughter" relationship that develops despite themselves throughout the story.

What if I were right? What if there

had a missing link capable of regulating the entire cannabinoid system?

From the ultra-modern laboratories of the pharmaceutical industry to the underground world of illegal cannabis cultivation, and through the valleys of Pakistan and Afghanistan where this plant originated and has always been cultivated, KUSH takes us by the hand and leads us through the most fascinating aspects of hemp: its medicinal properties, its repression, its origins. A three-part adventure in search of a plant about which we know almost nothing, the quest for a modern-day holy grail.

FROM MICRO TO MACRO

KUSH offers an extreme visual contrast, moving from the confined environment of laboratories and indoor cultivation to the vastness of the Hindu Kush which is home to most of the world's highest peaks.

KUSH plunges us into uncharted territory, both scientifically and geographically, as well as on a human level.

OKINO FILMS develops and produces film projects at the intersection of cultures.

Founded by Quentin Clausin after two feature films shot in Cambodia and distributed internationally, the company now operates from France, producing stories that transcend geographical and personal boundaries. It's an approach to cinema where otherness enriches the vision, and where each film is a territory to be explored.
